A charitable cause supporting child education and literacy in sub-Saharan Africa

we(e)press is an Ottawa-based Canadian children's book publishing house dedicated to raising funds in support of child education and literacy projects in the poorest regions of the world through the sale of books for young readers.

As a registered charity, the we(e)press business model provides for no royalties or profits in order that the maximum proceeds can be directed to African education and literacy activities through their program partner, CODE (www.codecan.org).

we(e)press books are targeted at various age groups, but all uniformly support a message or metaphor of the "global village".

Each we(e)press book is a mechanism through which the parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, school teachers and librarians that are caring for the kids of "Generation WE" can continue to foster these children's seemingly innate sense of interconnectedness.

At we(e)press, we recognize that current literacy levels in the developing world are a hindrance to their peoples' building a self-sufficient future.

we(e) believe literacy is fundamental to education and skills creation; that these enable a sustainable future. And that literacy is a lifelong process, built on quality early primary literacy education and the fostering of a love of books, reading and learning.

we(e) believe in children helping children.
